Our Preserves

SPLT has four shortgrass prairie preserves, all of which are located in southeastern Colorado, a biodiversity hotspot. These preserves are managed for native flora and fauna and the natural ecosystem. Our first priority is land acquisition, as more lands protected by SPLT means refuge for more wildlife. In addition to growing our existing preserves, in the future, we hope to protect lands in other states in the Southern Plains: Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
