SPLT’s Key Partnerships & Coalition Memberships *
SPLT’s work with many organizations and businesses to promote our vision of a restored and preserved Southern Plains:
- Colorado Coalition of Land Trusts: SPLT is an active member of this coalition.
- Colorado Natural Heritage Program: SPLT is working with this organization to map key biological features of southeastern Colorado.
- Denver Zoo, Department of Conservation Biology: SPLT is working with the Denver Zoo on a study of the ecological effects of bison and black-tailed prairie dogs in shortgrass prairie ecosystems.
- The Great Plains Ecotourism Coalition: SPLT is an active member of this coalition.
- Prairie Dog Coalition of the Humane Society of the United States: SPLT works with this coalition to advance coexistence with prairie dogs and associated wildlife.
- The Summerlee Foundation: In a project supported by this foundation, SPLT has set up remote cameras on our preserves and some cooperating neighbor lands to capture candid photos on area wildlife, to raise awareness of the splendid creatures in our midst.
- WildEarth Guardians: SPLT and WildEarth Guardians recognize the importance of better legal shields for imperiled wildlife. WildEarth Guardians’ annual Report from the Burrow is a great resource for assessing the state of prairie dog protections.
