Dedicate an Acre

The Southern Plains Land Trust (SPLT) is offering a unique opportunity for you and your family to develop a special relationship with the land the SPLT protects. We are inviting you to dedicate an acre of our shortgrass prairie reserve, Fresh Tracks, in southeastern Colorado.

We named this property Fresh Tracks to honor the welcomed sight of native animal tracks on the land and to signify a new path toward land management on the Southern Plains, one where wildlife is respected for its intrinsic value. This 1280-acre reserve hosts fertile riparian habitat; shale outcroppings with distinct floral communities; an expanding colony of black-tailed prairie dogs, a keystone species of the Great Plains; the Colorado green gentian, a plant found only in southeast Colorado; and a great diversity of other prairie life. Additionally, Fresh Tracks is a gorgeous landscape, with a rippling spectrum of native grasses, juniper trees, and grand vistas.

To dedicate an acre of this extraordinary prairie land, simply make a $200 donation to SPLT and specify that you want it directed to our Dedicate an Acre Program. Your contribution and participation in this program will help SPLT protect this land in perpetuity and acquire more land, as we expand our shortgrass prairie reserve network. You can dedicate an acre of preserved land in someone’s name. This is a great gift idea for any occasion or a touching memorial to a deceased loved one, family member, friend, or animal companion.
